November 7th 2025
Delivered by: His Grace Bishop Raphael of Ilion
Key features: community involvement; learning about our faith; Multisensory learning.
We started this November with a very special guest. Our very own Bishop Raphael spoke to children and staff about the Church’s Holy Orders and what they meant. He explained the differences between a priest and a deacon and a bishop. He spoke about how each has a special role in serving God liturgically and in ministering to God’s people. He showed us the various kinds of vestments that clergy wear and told us what each item symbolises.
As always, Bishop Raphael had everyone captivated with his insightful, graceful way of speaking, his wealth of knowledge, and his genuine love and respect for each person he is speaking with. A truly fascinating talk for participants of all ages.
After the talk children played a rowdy game turning the hall upside down. In two teams the children found hidden pictures of priestly items of clothing. The first team to dress their priest correctly won. It wasn’t entirely a fair race since some of our pupils are the children of priests and deacons!
