Decorating gingerbread

Jakub Hampl, a parent at the school, ran a workshop about traditional Czech gingerbread nativity scenes. The children learnt that Czechia has a long proud tradition of making nativity scenes, which they call ‘Bethlehem’. Mr. Hampl shared images of beautiful scenes made with various materials. The children made a special gingerbread dough that hardens well to use for making their own figures. Each child made their own figurines. We baked these and the children decorated them with homemade icing. When everything was ready they put it all together to create a wonderful nativity scene. Everyone enjoyed eating the artwork at the end of the winter term!
