Mini-beasts! Fun in Holyrood park

A blessed day in Edinburgh’s wild spaces for the children today. The friendly HES Rangers gave the children a wealth of activities to complete getting them thinking about the local environment. First, the children chose trees whilst blindfolded and memorised them by features and textures. Finding them afterwards was not always easy! Then, they looked at mini-beasts - from little worms and spiders, to beetles and snails - examining them with magnifying glass covers. Third, they got creative, making their own ‘green men’ using clay, leaves, and twigs. They learnt how mini-beasts camouflage by hunting for little pieces of wool in the forest. A fun day all around.
