Coming all the way from the sunny island of Crete to visit us in Edinburgh, two blessed sisters spoke to us about their life in a convent. They told us about a nun’s daily life. Chryssopigi monastery is famous for its incredibly beautiful land where the sisters produce various organic agricultural products. The sisters spoke about why as Christians they are dedicated to taking good care of creating. They spoke about earth-friendly agricultural processes that they use, about the meaning and importance of organic. They showed us beautiful photographs of their work and told us about the producing olive oil using the best methods, hand-painting icons, sowing vestments and other monastic products they make. We were all taken with the charm of it all and wishing we could visit this grace-filled place. The children asked many questions, trying to see more of this wonderful place with their mind’s eye. However, there was competition No one was more amazed, or asked more questions than our teacher Mr. Telfer!
