What is Physics?

24th March 2026

Delivered by: Fr. Andrei Constantin

Key features: community participation; STEM; creativity; philosophy; critical thinking; literacy; mathematics; dialogical learning; Multisensory learning.

Dr Andrei Constantin is a theoretical physicist, an associate professor of Mathematics at Birmingham University and a Supernumerary Fellow at Mansfield College in Oxford. He came to introduce our pupils to the study of Physics. What is it? Why do we study it? Dr. Andrei began all the way back, telling us about Adam in paradise. God presented him with creation and told him to name the creatures. Physics is a continuation of this creative, explorative act. Physics is about looking at the incredible world that God has created and trying to understand it. Soon, children were working in teams, collecting data and graphing their results. A fascinating class: for children and adults alike. We hope to have Fr. Andrei back again in the summer.
