We are pleased to announce that our HMI inspection report has been officially published. We are grateful to everyone involved in the school, who have worked so hard to achieve a truly remarkable result. As Bishop Raphael has said, our inspection results are nothing short of a miracle. Please do take time to read it.
It is extraordinary for a new school to achieve such a positive report in its early phase. Comparative data show that in its first year alone our school has achieved grades placing it in the top 20% of schools in Scotland.
Besides the grades themselves, reading the narrative, it is impossible to miss how impressed the inspectors were. In every category they have the highest praise for us. They found our curriculum broad and balanced, benefiting the children, and they noted that children at all stages experience high-quality learning in literacy and numeracy and through discrete teaching in science, history, nature studies and geography. They remarked on how enthused the children are by the lessons, and hence how well they participate in the classes. They were impressed by the behaviour of our pupils, describing them as courteous, friendly and articulate.
The inspectors were also impressed with how well the teachers delivered the lessons, meeting the needs of each child while supporting them to progress. They praised us on how well the staff team is managed and how well they are able to work together towards the common good of all. They also noticed that wellbeing, equality and inclusion are ensured at the school to a high standard, resulting in a warm, supportive and nurturing environment where children feel safe and valued. They name our processes ‘highly successful… with all children demonstrating friendliness, helpfulness, and a strong sense of mutual support.’
So glory be to God. Thank you to everyone for your prayers and support this year. We especially want to thank His Eminence Archbishop Nikitas, whose blessing started the school and whose ongoing support has kept it alive. We are grateful to God that the team that has come together around the school has real talent. With God’s help everyone has been working together well, with a clear vision in mind. Additionally, if I may say so, since our approach is pedagogically correct, everyone’s efforts can bear fruit.
Our task now is to maintain our high standards as the school grows. The whole team feels what a great privilege, and what a heavy responsibility, it is: to educate children created by God, destined for nothing less than eternal rejoicing with Him in His kingdom. The whole school is committed to giving the children the best and most profitable schooling. I certainly agree with Bishop Raphael: this is a miracle.
